How to Extend the Validity of Go50 for Students?

Since the shutdown of ABS-CBN and us still being in community quarantine, you might be needing additional channel/s for your TV viewing time at home. On May 30, 2019, the Bank of the Philippine Islands announced that they will be implementing new fees starting July 1, 2019 for mobile transfer to unenrolled third party accounts i.e. BPI to BPI accounts (PhpP10) and mobile transfer to other banks via InstaPay (PhP50). To be honest, I opened an account with them way back in 2012 because they were the only bank which allows over-the-counter deposits to regional BPI banks FREE of charge. But recently, they are charging PhP50 for every interbranch deposit. Moreover, they will be imposing these new mobile transfer fees starting July! Such another burden BPI.

But there are still ways to enjoy the BPI mobile transfer service for FREE, most especially to those online sellers who utilize BPI transfer as mode of payment. I will be sharing with you on how to use the BPI mobile transfer despite the new fee implementation and let your business thrive after this new fee is implemented.

How to Still Enjoy FREE BPI Mobile Transfers?
A. Transfer via QR
For now,this is the most efficient way to transfer money for BPI to BPI accounts. I recommend using this method since it's error-proof. We need not worry of inputting the wrong account number and it's also faster as compared to the traditional way of typing the account numbers.
To do:
1. Log-in to your account via BPI mobile app or the webpage version (their interface are now similar by the way). Go to Other Services} QR Generator.
2. Select the account where money will be received and type a nickname for it. Any name will do.
3. Click the Generate button and wait for the QR code to be generated. Once finished, click the Save to Device. Now, the saved picture of your account QR code will be used to allow your family, friends and customers to send you money from their BPI accounts. So, whenever you request payment from other people, just send the picture of the QR code.
4.  For them to send you money, let them use the Transfer via QR button from the homepage of the mobile app. Choose import from Gallery.


B. Enroll your other accounts and third party accounts
Though the transfer via QR code is the easiest method, it is only FREE for a limited period of time (until BPI public notice). Once fee is implemented to Transfer via QR, our only option for FREE mobile transfer is enrolling third party accounts by visiting a branch near you or by mailing signed Third Party Enrollment Form. You can download the Third Party Enrollment Form here. Follow the steps below to enroll third party accounts.

In the long run, we can still enjoy the FREE transfer if we enroll the accounts; but this is quite tedious especially to the online buyers. Whenever they want to use the service to a new online seller, they will have to enroll the account first before they can make payment. I think this is a wrong move for BPI. Surely, people will find another bank that do this for FREE all the way! Hello BDO and LBP...

How to Download Big Files Without Being Blocked by Globe/TM?

A. Use Regular Load (no promo)
1. You only need to load around 30php-50php. Make sure you do not have existing registration to promos. If you have, buy an extra Globe/TM SIM for your download activities only.
2. Text SURFALERT OFF to 8080.
3. Start your download. It is advisable to download during off-peak hours (11PM-6AM). You can just start the download before you sleep and let it finish. Just make sure that your regular load is only the amount you want to spend for the download. The download speed during off-peak hours is faster and Globe/TM only charge Php5/15mins. It downloads at 4mbps.
4. Once you are done, send SURFALERT ON to 8080 to make sure that your internet won't consume regular load next time you reload.

B. Use Consumable Internet Promos (Not Unlimited)
1. If you can afford to download using data promos, just send GOTSCOMBOKEA37 to 8080 and you will have 1GB of consumable data for your 1GB download. If you want more data allocation, register again using that promo to have 2GB and so on. It costs PhP37 for every successful registration.

Yey, the perk is no longer exclusive for Globe subscribers! This trick is better suitable for your mobile data internet need. I will NOT suggest this to use in your pocket wifi or modem which is usually shared over a number of users. You can now enjoy a month-long internet connection as long as you can manage your daily internet use, setup your mobile data limit in your Android data setting to 3GB and have the notification for 70MB use so that you can track your consumption. I can say that I am a moderate user (Facebook with video streaming, Messenger call/video, Viber, Instagram (IG), 15 mins Youtube, Arena of Valor (AOV), Mobile Legend (ML), Rules of Survival (ROS), Pokemon Go, UCWeb browsing for 30 mins, and my Mobile Banking Apps are my daily apps usage). Finally, Talk 'n Text has upgraded their SIM cards! The TnT LTE SIM is now available. I have been a TnT user ever since because of their affordable call and text promos. But without a fast and reliable internet speed, I have added Globe in my preference mainly because of Globe's 30-day promos. TnT was not very particular with their internet promos before as they mainly improve their call and text promos one after the other. In the time of 4G and the upcoming 5G speed, I think this upgrade is very timely. One may not want to be leftout with a sluggish 3G speed, eh?
So, I purchased the said TnT LTE SIM and inserted it to my LTE capable modem and availed the UNLI20 promo, unlimited internet for a day. This promo used to be available to Smart users only but later offered to TnT users as well. The signal is in LTE but the speed of internet is not that great during the day. But from 10PM to 7AM, you can say that the speed is in LTE. This may vary depending on your location and your nearness to the Smart's tower. I live where Smart and Globe internet speed do not even reach 3mbps, I guess it was because of my location.

You can now opt to go to Smart store and have your old TnT SIM replaced with this new LTE SIM. If you don't want to retain your old number, you can simply buy the new TnT LTE SIM.

I am also a subscriber of AliExpress and I can say that Shopee offers products which can be found in AliExpress. So, instead of purchasing in AliExpress and waiting for at least 3 weeks of shipping time, have the Shopee experience for a shorter waiting time and free of custom handling fee.

Shopee vs. Lazada Experience
My first Shopee experience is during the holiday season. I bought gifts for my friends in bulk. Although it took a longer time to arrive, around twelve days, still I was able to give it to them during our Christmas party. I ordered fifteen (15) travel pouches from Shopee which I purchased for about P135.00 less than the price of Lazada. Can you imagine I saved about P2025.00 for my gifts? The only problem is that five out of the fifteen pouches had a different brand, but they are in new and good condition. Should I complain? I guess not. With the savings, I could care less.

I was a bit hesitant to order in Shopee again but another opportunity came, so I dared to try again. I am organizing an event and I wanted to save up our budget as much as I can without compromising the quality of our souvenirs. I ordered thirty (30) pieces of pencil bags in Shopee which costs around P350 less than Lazada's tag (savings of P10,500.00). Perhaps the delayed delivery last time is just brought about the season. Even Lazada had a delay during that time since I ordered from them as well. I also ordered six (6) foldable bags from Shopee, priced at P120 less than Lazada's. They, too, are in good condition.

My experiences with Shopee may not have been enough but in my perspective, Shopee can be considered in the same platform of Lazada. I did have a few not so good experiences with Lazada, like a defective shoe organizer and frail luggage bags. So if you are saving up, try Shopee!

With the continuous upgrading of Globe in their system, especially with those regarding their internet promos, we are now at lost with the cheaper variety of text, call and internet promos. But we will not be totally missing out on the alternatives with the cheapest variants.

Known Issues:
The system has detected multiple registrations from this mobile number and no longer allowed to register blah blah. Solution is just wait for at least 15 minutes before you register again. Do not hurry to send another codes. Register during off peak hours to prevent this from happening.
The amount for the registration was deducted but the promo was not availed/registered to your account.  Sad to say, the only solution for this is to call Globe Customer Hotline at 211 and report to them that your load was "kinain" during the registration. Globe will graciously return the specific amount if your claim is valid.

3. I have extended my promo earlier than expected, will the additional 7 days be counted after my supposed to be expiration? - No, additional 7 days will start count right after the day you registered. So to make your registration longer, extend only on the day of your expiration, an hour or two before the expiration time.

If you are looking for the cheapest combo promo from Talk 'n Text, I suggest you avail the UnliTextPlus10 promo. Talk 'N Text has upgraded this UTP10 as you can read from my previous post here. This promo is suited for users who prefers the combination of unlimited text with call minutes features and a bit of internet data allocation. For only Php10, you will be provided with unlimited text to Smart/TNT/Sun, 50 consumable minutes calls to Smart/TNT/Sun, 50 allnet texts, and 30MB of internet data for Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Facebook Messenger, etc.

Additionally, you can extend your subscription for another day for only Php5. Extending the promo can be done for 365 days for as long as you have remaining peso balance sufficient to extend. I tried to register to BB DAY today and unfortunately, Smart Communications no longer offer this promo. Instead they sent me an ad regarding their new promo, the Giga Surf 50. With the same amount of PhP50, a subscriber can enjoy 1GB of consumable internet data plus FREE 300MB of Youtube, Iflix, Spinnr, Vimeo, DailyMotion, Skype Qik, and Dubsmash access. (Update: This promo now has unlimited all network texts!) Moreover, if you cannot consume all the data in three days, you can share your remaining data allocation to your friends or family using the new PASADATA feature of Smart (just like in PASALOAD). Minimum data to share is 50MB.

I also searched if Globe has a better promo for Php50. To match this Smart's new promo, Globe has upgraded its GoSurf50 with 1GB data for internet usage plus 300MB data for a chosen app (i.e. Viber, Spotify, SnapChat, Youtube, DailyMotion, CoC, or Clash Royale), and unlimited Allnet text and FREE Facebook app use.

If you want to have the additional unlimited Allnet texts, then go with the Globe's GoSurf50. But if you are more specific with the data provision, I suggest you register to Smart's GigaSurf50.

As corrected below in the comment form, both subscriptions are LTE signals if your device and SIM are LTE capable.
