Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin in Maybe This Time

I just watched the music video/trailer of Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin's Maybe This Time! I can say that I am excited for it though I can't say if Coco-Sarah tandem will be such a hit based on the trailer. They lack chemistry or is it just the trailer that's giving me the false hopes?

The song Maybe This Time (original by Michael Murphy) speaks for the storyline of the movie. Two old friends meet again, wearing older faces, talk about the places they've been. Two old sweethearts who fell apart somewhere a long ago, someday they'd meet again and had a need for more than reminiscin'. It's just my favorite song and I am glad that Sarah revived it and a new movie was developed with her as the lead actress. Sarah G fan here!

Along with Sarah and Coco in the movie were Ruffa Gutierrez, Ogie Diaz, Dennis Padilla and Tony Mabesa. The film is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng under Star Cinema. Movie will hit the cinemas this May 28, 2014.

Here's the music video and trailer:

What Happens Next to Filipina X-Factor Israel Winner?

The news of a Filipina becoming the first winner of X-Factor Israel had hit the country like a storm. It sure made the Filipinos' pride bloom again for the nth time. Rosanna Fostanes, a 46-year-old OFW hailed in Taguig, works as a caregiver in Israel. She won the title singing Frank Sinatra's memorable My Way, breaking the Filipino belief that the song is cursed and whoever sings it (especially in videoke) will face death right after. But this is not the case for her, huh? The song made her gain the flags of admiration from the Filipinos worldwide after Manny Pacquiao's win in Shanghai, China last Novermber 2013.

As I read the news, I wonder how she was able to join the contest given she has a Filipino citizenship? And the problem now rise after this historical event. There was these issues of Israel not permitting her to work as a singer in their country and the Philippine's Bureau of Internal Revenue is also to tax her winnings. The BIR said that even though OFWs are exempted from tax, her winnings is not. It's like in Pacquiao's case, even if they had brought pride to the Philippines, they still have to abide with the laws governing their incomes. As with Israel, the country will not honor her caregiver visa to allow her to do paid recordings.

Well, I hope the best for her, these problems are workable and I am sure she can get out of it will soon enjoy the fame and the career that opened through the show. You can watch her winning performance below:

Malaala Mo Kaya: Pulang Laso Music by Johnoy Danao

A big thumbs up if you got here because you liked the Malaala Mo Kaya #Pulang Laso episode.

Well, who wouldn't be touched by that kind of love story eh? A love formed between two guys who will expect that it is true love. Everyone of us is quite aware that when the relationship is homosexual, they are usually for money, casual sex, and even just for passing the time. I have read comments in Facebook that they were really touched by it, that the story made their eyes puff after crying so much, that they want to have a partner like Alan, who will love them unconditionally and beyond everything.

So, for the music that added the to a memorable story: download Ikaw at Ako by Johnoy Danao.

Enjoy!

Poon Ning Mangga: Proud to be a Bicolano

It's a song way back in 2009. My friend introduced this to me and I am, wow, this is good! I hope that Bicolanos will also be recognized by this type of hype besides the old-fashioned Sarong Banggi. It's rare to have this kind of composers who promote the Bicol language.

The acoustic melody of Poon Ning Mangga is really nice and the lyrics is so cool even though it's speak of failed love and third party. Though tragic, the music is playful. The lyrics goes like reminiscing the old days, about his love. At present, the guy was telling a story of how he love his girl before but now she is pregnant from another man and before he doesn't know that the girl has another guy.

This is part of the lyrics, I haven't got the whole one but I hope you will enjoy watching it here.

"Ta maski anong sakong gibuhon,
dai na kayang ibalik ang kadto.

Ta dai ko maaram an gigibuhon, pagnailing kang may kaibanan iba,

Whatever I'll do, it can never bring back the past.
I can't think of what to do when I see you with someone else.
It aches to think about this, but there's nothing more to do,
when your girl has another man.

Your girl has another man!
Your girl has another man!
Pregnant, it's not yours.

You can also have a copy, download Poon Ning Mangga.

Envy the Kids Who Can Play Guitar

I have been learning to play the guitar for about two years already and the song that I can really play and sing along are Leaving on a Jetplane, Hwak Kamay, Bakit Ba? by Siakol and Breakaway by Carrie Underwood.   And I am still no good on those songs!

I was encourage to learn this instrument because I have seen among the guys that if they are not playing basketball or DOTA, they are playing guitar! Since I have known quite a few who can teach me and tune my guitar whenever it needed one. I bought an I.R. Lumanog guitar so as not to wreck other people's guitar. And I asked two of my friends to teach me starting with the finger positions. The hard part was the strumming wherein you have to make the sound just like as you have heard them in music.  So, much to my disappointment, I just let my guitar lie most of the time.

I have seen music prodigy, August Rush, played the guitar unconventionally. If you haven't seen the movie, here's a head start. Now, as I was browsing youtube.com for guitar lessons, I came across Sungha Jung, also counted as a musical prodigy I guess. I read that he started playing guitar at age 7 and then came to fame in Youtube. He and August Rush have the same style in playing the guitar (called finger-style), I can't still believed that it can be played that way and give the same music! The best of it, you can see that they are enjoying their music.

"Gangnam Style" Sensation (Only in the Philippines)

If you haven't heard the "Gangnam Style" music, you should ask yourself if you are still being aware of your surrounding. Because it has been playing in the air for months now and people are not getting tired of its repeated lyrics "Gangnam style, hey sexy lady! Gangnam Style!". The kids are not only dancing it, even the inmates in Cebu! They may be inmates, but they still have social lives and the biggie of this, they have Time to practice and choreograph a dance in this hit music! See the video here (youtube.com).

Filipinos now quote, that when they go into prison cells, it's better be in CEBU. You can dance freely in there! Opp, Opp!

The Gangnam version that I love the most is the Mother and Son style.
Watch them perform in Ellen

Original version at their home

Enjoy!

d-EMO-cracy

Since I heard the word emo, I haven't looked up it's formal definition in the web. I had accepted as is the contextual definitions my social circle had imposed on me. Based on what I gather, the word 'emo' is characterized by the goth fashion (distinctive hairstyle, dark lipstick, nail polish even with the guys, eyeliners, striped shirts and long kinds of socks). Emos are the people who are more concentrated on their inner feelings, they are emotional, sensitive, and have in-depth understanding of loving and losing. These are the 'emos' in my perspective.

Then yesterday, I asked Mr. Google about it and he referred me to Ms Wikipedia. She educated me that emo is a style of music, punk rock. Even the disambiguations did not match with my pre-defined meaning. But it did not make me wrong nor my friends because the word evolves through time. People can baptize a completely new definition for it as it is affected by culture and everyday usage. Thus gradually losing it's intended definition.

As I was browsing, I came upon a lyrics which relayed a much wider characterization of the emos. The lyrics contain the picture of the typical emos, their behaviors, fashion and looks. It helped me to clarify things out from my own definition. I downloaded the song and goodness, the singers are really funny! I think we call these people in our country as the "jumping jologs" with the exception that they are always jumping at concerts.

The song is "I Must be EMO" by Hollywood Undead.

Dear Diary, Mood: Apathetic
My life is spiraling downward
I couldn’t get enough money to go to the Blood Red romance andsuffocate me dry concert
It sucks because they play some of my favorite songs like, Stab My Heart because I Love You and Rip Apart My Soul and of course Stabby, Rip, Stab, Stab
And it doesn’t help that I couldn’t get my hair to flippy thing either, like that guy from that band could do. Somedays.
I’m an emo kid, non-confroming as can be you’d be non-conforming to if you looked just like me
I have paint on my nails and makeup on my face
I’m almost emo enough to start shaving my legs, cause I feel real deep when I’m dressing in drag I call it freedom of expression, most just call me a fag
Cause our dudes look like chicks and our chicks look like dikes
Cause emo is one step below tranvestite
Stop my breathing and slit my throat
I must be emo
I don’t jump around when I go to shows
I must be emo
I’m dark, and sensitive with low self esteem
The way I dress makes everyday feel like Halloween
I have no real problems but I like to make believe
I stole my sisters mascara and now I’m grounded for a week
Sulking and writing poetry are my hobbies
I can’t get through a Hawthorne Heights album without sobbing
Girls keep breaking up with me
It’s never any fun they say they already have a pussy
They don’t need another one
Stop my breathing and slit my throat
I must be emo
I don’t jump around when I go to shows
I must be emo
Dye in my hair nail polish on my toes
I must be emo
I play guitar and write suicide notes
I must be emo
My life is just a black abyss
You know? It’s so dark
And its suffocating me
Grabbing a hold of me and tightening its grip
Tighter than a pair of my little sisters jeans.
Which look great on me, by the way
When I get depressed I cut my wrists in every direction
Hearing songs about getting dumped give me an erection
I write in a live journal and wear thick rimmed glasses
I tell my friends I bleed black and cry during classes
I’m just a bad, cheap, imitation of goth
You could read me Catcher In The Rye and watch me jack-off
I wear skin tight clothes while hating my life
If I said I like girls I’d only be half right
I look like I’m dead and dress like a homo
I must be emo
Screw XBOX I play old school Nintendo
I must be emo
I like to whine and hit my parentals
I must be emo
Me and my friends all look like clones
I must be emo
My parents don’t get me , you know?
They think I’m gay because they saw me kiss a guy ,well, a couple of guys
But I mean, it's the 2000's, can’t two, or four dudes make out with each other without being gay?
I mean chicks dig that kind of thing anyways
I don’t know diary, sometimes I think you’re the only one on that gets me, You’re my best friend, I feel like tacos.

By the way, I like the title that I had come up with with this post. downward
