The new year is about to start and I have been away for the holidays so many have been asking through private messages of any cheaper internet access for Smart users. As of today, Smart has already fixed the TNT Surfmax Glitch, there's really no forever. And also the Super10 and FB10 unli internet access already served their sole purpose. Gladly, there are still other promos that will let Smart users to surf the internet for at least PhP15/day and it can even get cheaper if availed for a longer period.


Cheap Unlimited Internet for Smart (At Least P15/Day)
Requirements:
Smart SIM (Buddy, Nano, Polka, Jump-In, etc.)
Pocket wifi, modem, broadband stick, tablet, or any internet capable mobile phones

Procedure:
1. Insert your Smart SIM to your modem, pocket wifi, broadband stick, tablet or mobile phone. Go to write messages, send PROTECT ON to 9999 and choose your promo from these:
Update: February 22, 2016. To have unlimited internet access AGAIN using OPERA, register to FB2 to 6406. This makes additional PhP2/day.
3G Speed Only
Unlimited download, stream videos and upload files (no speed throttling) 
PhP15/day (valid for 1 day for only PhP17)

OPERA60 to 9999 and wait for confirmation.  Never mind the warning that the promo will only work using Opera Mini, you can use any apps you prefer and it can download more than 15MB without being charged P5/15mins. Then send FB2 to 6406 and POWERAPP OFF to 5555.

PhP11.50/Day (valid for 7 days for only PhP80 + PhP2/Day)
OPERA80 to 9999 and wait for confirmation. Never mind the warning that the promo will only work using Opera Mini, you can use any apps you prefer and it can download more than 15MB without being charged P5/15mins. Then send FB2 to 6406 and POWERAPP OFF to 5555.

PhP10.5/Day (valid for 15 days for only PhP160 + PhP2/Day)

3G/4G/LTE Speed - KickStart and SmartBro SIM
Unlimited download, stream videos and upload files (with speed throttling)
PhP25/Day (valid for at least 2 days for only PhP50)
SURFMAX50 to 9999 and wait for confirmation. Then send ROAM OFF to 333. Promo will expire on the second day at 11:59PM so register after 12MN to enjoy more hours surfing using this promo. Example, you register on December 30 12:05AM, your promo will expire on December 31 11:59PM. If your speed was throttled to 2G speed, you can read the tutorial on Overcoming the 800MB Bandwidth Limit.

2. Once you are registered, enable your data connection and start accessing the internet. You can stream, download, upload, use the social media sites and even play online games.

I cannot guarantee that your SIM card will not be blocked due to heavy downloading so don't abuse the bandwidth usage. Maintain your usage to at least 3GB per day.

I haven't tried the Opera promos in SmartBro, TNT and KickStart SIM. Please feedback if the promo works using those SIMs.

Known Issues:
-Cannot connect to the internet after registering to any Opera promo. If you still don't have unli internet access, resend PROTECT ON and POWERAPP OFF (2x). Restart your phone and connect again.

Disclaimer:
I cannot guarantee that all the promos will work 100% on your side because they are area and SIM dependent. You will never know if it work if you don't take the risk to test. Good luck.

Christmas is fast approaching and with this, let's take this opportunity to gift ourselves with freebies from Talk 'N Text. How to Check the Expiration of Your Promo?
On the TNT dashboard (see pic above), click the REFRESH link (the one in the red box, besides the Latest Time info). Your expiration will be updated at the right side of the dashboard page (just along the Latest Time info). Just be patient, it's slow to update.

To those who are having difficulty accessing the dashboard page, register first to SAMPLE to 4545. It only costs PhP1.00. This will provide you a faster internet connection and it will ease up your dashboard access. If you don't have piso load, then try going to youtube.com first and let the dashboard load from there.

-This tutorial is good until it's working and the obtained subscription is good until Smart hasn't provided a fix for those who already subscribed to it.
-Don't abuse the expiration extension or else your SIM will be BLOCKED and you will NOT be able to enjoy this free internet. Use at moderation. Unblocking a TNT SIM is very difficult these days.
-Better do this during off-peak hours for less traffic in the network.

-Not working for Mindanao (and some Visayas) area.

If you are in a tight budget and you cannot make the Piso Unli Internet to work on your device, then try the tutorial below for Smart and TNT SIM for less than PhP10 a day spent on subscription. Let's hope that by these promos, there will be no more hassles and no-browsing problems anymore. Adding to the unli internet access, the promos below will let you have unli call and unli allnet texts. It will provide your Smart (Jump-IN, Buddy and Nano) and TNT SIM with internet access that will let you download, stream videos and access the social networks with no need for VPN to access the restricted sites like Youtube. Still, if you prefer a cheaper version for TNT, try the Internet Access for PhP5 but it needs to use VPN to access the restricted sites and no unli call/text were included. Just choose what's convenient with you. You have four available options for different budgets.

How to have Internet Access For Less Than PhP10 a Day (TNT and Smart)?
Requirements:
Talk 'N Text SIM or Smart SIM with at least PhP15 load (Jump-In, Nano, Buddy, BigTime, etc)

Procedures:
Talk 'N Text Unli Internet with Unli Allnet Text and Tri-Net Call
PhP15/2Days and can be extended for PhP5/Day
Working as of February 22, 2016 
1. Text PROTECT ON to 4545 and wait for confirmation.
2. Register to P10 to 3545 and wait for confirmation. You will have unli tri-net call and unli allnet text for one day for only PhP10. This used to have 30MB limit for internet data but now, it is already unlimited.
3. Text EDAY (or EXTEND) to 3545 and wait for confirmation. Your P10 promo will be extended for another day for only PhP5, making a total of PhP15 spent for 2 days validity.
4. Enable your internet settings and connect to the internet using your phone/tablet, modem or pocket wifi. You can now browse the internet, download and upload files and stream videos for more than the 30MB limit allocated by TNT.
5. Done. You now have unli internet access, unli call and text for two days. If you want to extend again for additional days, just load at least PhP5 again and text EDAY (or EXTEND) to 3545. You can extend for more than one day within the day. (ie, if you have another PhP20, you can text EDAY (or EXTEND) four times within a day).

Not Working as of December 10, 2015
(PhP10/Day) - Recommended for NCR users
1. Send PROTECT ON to 9999 and wait for confirmation.
2. Register to SUPER10 to 9999 and wait for confirmation. You will have Unli Allnet Text for a day for PhP10. The internet data bundled with it used to be for Viber, WhatsApp and Line only but now, it also lets you access the internet.
3. Send POWERAPP OFF to 5555 (or to 7577) and wait for confirmation. This will turn off your Powerapp alerts.
4. Enable your internet settings and start browsing the internet, download and upload files and even stream videos using your favorite web browser.
*You need to register if your SUPER10 expires. But if you will not receive any notification that your subscription is already expired, then it's a sign that maybe your SIM no longer needs to register again.

FAQ:
1. Is this an ON/OFF promo?
-Yes, you don't have to wait for hours to have internet access. You will still have internet access even if you disconnect your device for long and open it again.
2. Is this working until now?
-Yes, unless otherwise stated in the post. I will update the post once the promo subscription is no longer beneficial/working.
3. No browse for NCR users?
-Try registering to FB2 to 9999. Then POWERAPP OFF to 5555 (2x). Restart device.

Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee that it will work with all of us 100% because the promos are area-dependent and SIM prefixes dependent. But you will never know if you don't try. As Yoda famously said, "Do or do not, there is no try." So, don't blame the minority.

Smart Communications has stopped their LTE promos (i.e. LTE50 and Unlisurf) last October 31, 2015. These were replaced with the new SURFMAX and SURFMAXPLUS promos. Same speed, same denominations, BUT with limits. According to their Surfmax guidelines, the promo allows subscribers to enjoy all day surfing up to 800MB/day at optimal speeds and once this is consumed, all day surfing services will still be active but connection quality may vary until 12 midnight. There you go, sounds familiar with Globe's Fair Usage Policy (FUP), eh? So, nothing is unlimited now in the Philippines. We live more with limits? Internet should be a wide universe with no boundaries, we are paying for it so, we should get the best out of it!


Smart offers the following denominations for their new Surfmax promos:

The Surfmax promo is available for Smart Postpaid, Prepaid and Smart Bro users. Better use the SurfmaxPlus if you are in an LTE-covered area and your internet device is an LTE-capable one to ensure that you have the fastest internet speed.


How to Overcome the 800MB Limit of Smart's SurfMax and SurfMaxPlus?
We are all very disappointed with this new restriction in their internet promo, right? But Smart provided us a solution to get past their 800MB bandwidth limit usage. As stated in their guidelines:

Upon reaching their Smart SurfMax daily limit, subscribers may also switch to any Smart Big Bytes offering to continue enjoying optimal speeds. For a complete list of Smart Big Bytes packages, they may also visit www.smart.com.ph/pages/bigbytes.

So, the number 1 solution to prevent being throttled to slow network speed is to register to Big Bytes. Once you received a text from Smart notifying you that you have already consumed 800MB data, you only need to register to a Big Byte promo to revert your internet network speed to normal. It did not mention the denomination, so we prefer the cheapest one, the Big Byte for PhP5. To do this, send BIG5 to 9999 and wait for the confirmation then restart your modem and voila, your internet speed should be back to normal even if you have consumed the 5MB data from BigBytes and your Surfmax promo is not yet expired.

For Talk 'N Text users, you can send BIG5 to 4545. You can also register to SAMPLE to 4545.

Number 2 solution is to register to their SurfMaxPLUS promo using a Jump-In SIM card. Do not use SmartBro or KickStart Sim, these two are very strict when it comes to capping. They are so much updated with your internet data usage.

Number 3 solution is to register to their SurfMax promo using a KickStart Data SIM. If ever Smart notified you with the 800MB limit, turn off your modem for 30 mins and reconnect after that 30 mins. But most probably, Smart will not send notification using this SIM and this promo.

Number 4 solution is to restart your modem/broadband stick once you receive the 800MB usage notification. By turning your modem off, you allow it to change its IP connection and thus giving you a chance to get a nonthrottled IP. This works with KickStart Data SIMs.

Number 5 solution is to download more than 1GB files when you are enrolled in the promo and never mind the notification that you have used the 800MB data. If your download speed is maintained after you receive the notification, then say "My SIM is Great!" This works with some Jump-In SIMs but not all the time. So, try at your own risk.

Number 6 solution is to resend the promo code once your speed is throttled. Just resend the SURFMAX promo code to 9999 or 2200 even if you do not have enough load. Just ignore the insufficient load balance notification and restart your device. You can also use the SmartBro dashboard to register to SURFMAX. When you do this, make sure that you DO NOT have load greater than PhP49.

Update December 8, 2015: All SURFMAX users, expiration in this promo is until every 11:59PM. So I suggest you register after 11:59PM, i.e. 12:01AM, to have your subscription last for two days. Example, you register in Dec.8, 2015 12:01AM, your expiration will be on Dec 9, 2015, 11:59PM. That's two days for the price of PhP50.

Alternative for Unlimited Internet Without Limit
Instead of subscribing to SurfMax, subscribe to UnliSurf. Though Smart have announced that Unlisurf is no longer available, this promo is still available in your retailer store's SmartLoad Menu. You don't need to keywords to register, you only need to go to your suking tindahan and ask the SmartLoad retailer to load your Smart SIM with UnliSurf. They can also load your SIM by texting UNLI50 (your number) and send to 4122.

Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee that all these tricks will work to prevent your SIM from being throttled once you have consumed the 800MB data. It's effectiveness is a case-to-case basis. Your location/area is a determinant of its success as well as the SIM you are using. Since Smart is still in the process of upgrading their system, once or twice you will encounter a glitch in their network. You might even use their one day promo for more than a week, or you might end up not being able to connect to the internet even if you have just registered to the promo.

Since many had been complaining that the internet data allocation included in this Globe's Cheap 1100 Allnet Texts for 30 Days has access to Facebook but with no pictures, an anonymous user has commented a way to gain access to FREE Facebook with enabled pictures. But some users still complained that it is not working for them. As for my case, I also tried the promo and I was given 30MB allocation per day but after the 30MB is consumed due to lots of pictures showing in Facebook, one will revert to the use of FREE Facebook access but with no images. The tutorial below will let you use FB for FREE and will let you browse your friend's uploaded pictures.


How to Access FREE Facebook with Enabled Images in Globe/TM?
Requirements:
-Globe/TM Sim card even with zero load
-Facebook App or your internet browser (Opera Mini, UCWEB, Chrome, Firefox, etc)
-Mobile phone/tablet or your broadband stick/modem

Procedure:
1. Go to write messages of your phone/tablet or broadband stick/modem. Then send the following keywords:

SURFALERT ON to 8888 and wait for confirmation.
SURFALERT OFF to 8888 and wait for confirmation.
SURFALERT ON to 8888 and wait for confirmation.

2. Open your Facebook app or Facebook page (using your internet browser) and start using it with enabled images. Done!

Alternative Procedure:
When accessing Facebook, use b-m.facebook.com
All done!

I got a Samsung Smart Gravity phone from my aunt last week and I tried to tweak this 2011 model phone to keep up with the fast developing Android world while typhoon #Lando is slowly making his downpour. I rooted the phone and updated the firmware because the stock ROM feels lousy (though this phone has only one existing working custom ROM up to this date). So far, it's snappy now but I encountered a certain problem, the network signal won't stick with the 3G strength, it is always in EDGE even if it is a 3G phone.

New! Unlimited Internet with Unli Call and Unli AllNet Texts For Less Than PhP10/Day (TNT/Smart)

So, I browsed the net and read so many helpful tutorials that opened new horizons to my not-so-varied Android experience. And I came up with this tutorial that will help Android users to back away from the 2G/EDGE signal and empower their phones/tablets with 3G/4G signal using the different mobile networks in our country. This works for most brands such as Samsung, Cherry Mobile, Huawei, Sony, etc. Just try this tutorial and comment below if it did not work with your phone brand so I can update this post.

Disclaimer: This tutorial will NOT prevent your SIM from being blocked/throttled by your network due to heavy downloading or bandwidth overuse. It only provides users with simple tweaks to let their device experience the 3G/4G speed instead of the EDGE/2G speed by default.

How to Make Your Android Device (Phone/Tablet) Stick with 3G/4G?
To get rid of the sluggish 2G/EDGE signal of your device,
1. Grab your phone/tablet and dial *#2263#. This will bring your device to its Service Mode.
2. Three options will display in the screen and I bet yours will have asterisk (*) in the Automatic option. Now, tap {2} WCDMA Band Preference to choose this option then hit the back button of your device twice after a page confirms your selection.
3. Done. Check the network status by dialing *#0011#. Your device should say that it's now using the WCDMA band.

Service Mode Screen (*#2263#). Set it to WCDMA Band Preference.

Note:
-Make sure that your device is a 3G/4G capable phone. If not, the WCDMA/H+/HSPA+ will not stick. Your device will not connect to a network or it will revert back to GSM (Auto).
-This signal eats up much battery compared to the primitive 2G/EDGE signal. So, have a handy powerbank with you.
-You don't need to be rooted to make this work. 
-If it did not work, just follow the steps again and choose Automatic in the options to restore your previous settings.
-This tutorial is very helpful for those not-so-advanced 3G Android devices that didn't have these options in their Settings Menu.

Other secret codes that may come handy with your Android device:
*#*#4636#*#* (or *#*#INFO#*#* for easy memorization) - it can show your device info and network status. You can edit DNS in your device here, you can PING Google using your phone to check your internet access and you can also set the internet mode here (GSM, LTE, WCDMA, etc).
